On our Kenai River fishing charters we provide almost everything you need for a successful day of fishing with us. This includes all waders and boots, rods and reels, bait, world-class boats.

There are no hidden fees, fuel surcharges, or things that will nickel-and-dime you.

That being said, there are a few things you will need to bring. This includes:

  • Your Fishing License which you can buy directly at Alaska Department of Fish and Game or buy just about anywhere in Alaska
  • Proper clothes for the day depending upon the predicted weather. Sunscreen for hot and sunny days, and rain jackets for overcast and rainy days. Summer temperatures are usually pretty great!
  • Food, snacks, and drinks that you might like to have for the day. Bringing alcohol is fine, we just politely request that you do not bring glass containers.

We will provide fish processing, freezing, and shipping services to our guests that need it. For the guests that fish with us, we offer these services at $3.49 a pound.

We can hold the fish for you if you need and ship it to your home, but we recommend taking it with you on the airline in an airline approved shipping box. This is a much more cost effective solution than shipping.

Fishing the Kenai River without a guide is definitely an option – at least for some species of salmon. Sockeye salmon are the best choice for fishing the Kenia River without a guide. There are many publicly accessible spots for anglers to fish very successfully without a guide.

However, we really encourage visitors to get out with a guide at least once, ideally as soon as they arrive in our area, to learn the details on how to setup your rod and reel, what types of leaders to use, where to fish, and how to fine tune the setup. After a day on the river with us, most anglers are very succesfull at catching fish on their own.

All that being said, going out with a guide on multiple days is still a great option. We’re able to find “less crowded” areas, and being on the river in a boat is a much more fun experience than just driving up to the public accessible fishing spots.
