Kasilof River Sockeye-King Salmon Fishing Charter

Two Great Salmon Species On The Kasilof River

Our Kasilof River Sockeye-King Salmon Fishing Charters are only available for a short time each year. These trips are basically available from mid-June until the end of July. We will use very different techniques for each of these fish making it a really fun day on the water.

Fun Fact: Kasilof sockeye salmon stocks are one of the most heavily fished in Alaska. The Kasilof River is the second biggest producer of Upper Cook Inlet sockeye salmon, representing nearly 20 percent of the area’s commercial sockeye harvest and sometimes considerably more.

Kasilof River Combo Sockeye-King Salmon Fishing Schedule

The first sockeye of the season will arrive at the Kasilof River around June 11th but it will take about a week before sockeye fishing really improves.

Until the arrival of those first sockeye the only fishing available on the Kasilof River are the king salmon. Most of the early run king salmon are over by the time the first sockeye salmon arrived but there are still some occasionally entering the river system. This allows us to target both king salmon and sockeye salmon starting June 11.

Starting about June 20th there will be a lull in the king salmon fishing on the Kasilof River. We can still target both king salmon and sockeye salmon but the sockeye salmon will be far more productive than king salmon fishing.

The second run of kings will start to arrive July 1 and starting from about July 10 to July 31st both king salmon fishing and silver salmon fishing will be excellent. King salmon fishing ends by regulation on July 31st so starting August 1st we stop fishing for kings and will fish for silver salmon and sockeye salmon.
