Kenai Sportfishing Cancellation Policy

At Kenai Sportfishing, we have worked incredibly hard to create a fair and balanced cancellation policy. We hope you understand that our season is very short in Alaska. Cancellations can be devastating to the businesses here.

We encourage everyone to explore trip insurance options if there are any concerns that you might have regarding the ability to make your trip.

In general, upon making a reservation, a 20% cancellation fee of the total cost is applied. If cancelling within 30 days of the excursion the entire booking is non-refundable. We will make effort to rebook your seats. If we successfully rebook your seats, only the 20% booking fee will be retained. You are also welcome to sell them or gift them as well.

Refunds can take a few days to post to your account.

Kenai River & Kasilof River Charters Cancellation Policy

We’ve never had to cancel Kenai River or Kasilof River fishing trip. However, should the need ever arise to cancel your river trip due to weather related issues or any mechanical problems, we will issue you a full refund. There are occasions when fishing or other regulations require us to make modifications to your trip. This regulatory might include actions such as king salmon fishing being closed, or king salmon fishing being moved to catch-and-release. Kenai Sportfishing reserves the right to make changes to itineraries if regulations change in a fishery, or for the safety of our clients. By making your deposit you are committing to a chartered trip even if we are required to change the targeted species.

Halibut Charters Cancellation Policy

On occasion we do have to cancel our Halibut Charters due to weather. In case of cancellation due to weather or mechanical issues, Kenai Sportfishing will provide a full refund. Should the unfortunate situation arise that we do need to cancel, finding additional seats for another day can be challenging. Demand is incredibly high during peak season and there are often times when there are simply no boats or seats available. We’ll do our best to accommodate changes. But We will try!

Rarely will we cancel a trip the day before due to weather. The weather forecast is simply too unpredictable in our area. We know that many of you are making an early morning drive to Homer. We will make every effort to cancel the night before. However, most of the time, cancellations are made on the morning of the trip. If the need to cancel arises due to weather, we will try and cancel with you as early in the morning as possible. Our policy is to cancel the morning of the trip. But, we make every effort to cancel the day before but its incredibly hard.

For our halibut trips, there is occasionally the need of downgrading the trip due to weather rather than cancelling entirely. If you have booked an excursion but the weather only allows for a more local trip in more protected waters, then you are committing to fishing that day even on a downgraded trip. If your trip is downgraded, the difference in cost will be refunded within one week of the modified trip. We believe our customers would prefer a downgraded trip, if necessary, to no trip at all.

Bear Tours & Fly-In Fishing Charters Cancellation Policy

On occasion, due to weather, we have to cancel bear tours and fly-in fishing trips. Your safety, and the safety of everyone, is always our top concern.

At Kenai Sportfishing, we have an incredibly strong desire and commitment to giving you the best possible experience we can. This is true from the minute you book your trip to the moment when you disembark. We have no desire to change or downgrade your trip, cancel your trip for weather, or for any other reason, give you anything but what you’ve signed up for. However, Alaska is wild country and there are a variety of reasons that may require us to make adjustments. Should this happen you will be notified at least the night prior by email and by phone that a cancellation is a possibility. Adjusting reservations is never our first choice. We do everything possible to ensure you’re on the originally scheduled boat and crew.

Kenai Sportfishing reserves the right to make changes to itineraries if regulations change in a fishery, or for the safety of our clients.

Safety is always our first priority, however, outdoor activities in Alaska are not risk free. Rocks in the river can be slippery, hooks are sharp, a 200 lb halibut in the boat with a 4lb weight attached to it is incredibly powerful. To name just a few.

At Kenai Sportfishing, we always prioritize our clients’ safety, but we will not assume liability for personal injury, belongings, or any related expenses.

By making the deposit, the depositor agrees to be bound to the entirety of this cancellation policy.
