Captain Creig Garrett
Kenai & Kasilof River Guide
Captain Creig
Hello everyone! My name is Captain Creig Garrett and I am a born and raised Alaskan. I spent my childhood in Kenai, a place that sits at the center of one of the most incredible salmon migrations in the world.
It’s a common phrase in Texas, that “everything’s big in Texas.” In Alaska, we like to say that, “everything is bigger here – even more so than in Texas!”
All jokes aside, growing up in this remarkable state offered me countless adventures, ones many only dream of. I deeply value these experiences. My passion for the outdoors is strong, and I constantly pursue adventures, whether hunting, fishing, or hiking.
Chasing salmon, especially King Salmon, is an emotional rollercoaster. Some days are harder than others. Their enigmatic nature draws me in, making it thrilling to catch them. These are incredibly elusive creatures. But, it’s worth the struggle! These are some of the most prized salmon in the world. Catching one can be the fish of a lifetime.
I also eagerly await mid-late August for the Silvers, or Coho salmon. They’re fierce fighters, making early mornings worthwhile.
A Love For Every Fishing Season
Chasing after King Salmon is an endeavor that can tug at your emotions. Any day can be filled with both triumphs and challenges – its an emotional roller coaster as they say!. The enigma that surrounds these majestic fish is precisely what entices me. It injects excitement into the sport and beckons me to partake in the thrill of the chase! These creatures, with their elusive nature, continue to baffle and intrigue, any fishermen who dedicate their lives to unraveling their mysteries.
As the season transitions to mid and late August, my anticipation builds for the arrival of the Silvers, the Coho salmon, in our local waters. These fish, known for their gleaming, silver scales, are formidable opponents. Their fierce resilience turns each catch into a battle of wills. The crispness in the air and the thrill of these fish on the line justifies those exceedingly early mornings.
Embracing new adventures, I’m excited to head back to school in a different state, which opens up a new chapter in my life. While this means I’ll be taking a brief hiatus from the exhilarating fall fishing for silver salmon and trout (I’ll still be here for the main summer runs!), I see it as a positive interlude—a chance to grow and learn.. It’s an optimistic blend of life’s commitments and passions, and I look forward to the fresh experiences that await me, knowing that the rivers will be there, teeming with life, when I come back.
Service To Others
Growing up here in Alaska, I’ve been fishing these waters and exploring Alaska all my life. I started with Kenai Riverside Resort in 2020, and honestly, I’ve enjoyed working alongside some of my favorite colleagues during the summer seasons.
We are all committed to being the best in the industry. While we never guarantee fish, we definitely guarantee a great time on the water, with top notch gear, a commitment to conservation, kindness, patience, and excitement sharing our home with you.
I’m passionate about educating people on this unique ecosystem. The salmon run is complex and occurs swiftly; the life that lies dormant in winter bursts forth rapidly and vividly in the summer.
Currently, I am furthering my education in Brunswick, GA, with the aim of becoming a nurse. Service to others has always been a career interest of mine. I began my higher education at Kenai Peninsula College, where I earned my Firefighter I and EMT I certifications.
Although I briefly volunteered with Central Emergency Services in Soldotna and enjoyed the experience, I have realized that nursing is my true calling. I am now studying at Coastal Pines Technical College and have two more years until completion!
Let's Go Fishing!
In the winter seasons, I’m residing near the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, while I attend college. I spend my time pursuing saltwater fish in inland waters, with a focus on Red Drum and Snook. When I’m not fishing during my leisure time, I’m usually engrossed in all things related to whitetail deer.
I hope you’ll consider fishing with us in the place I call home! I assure you that you’ll be far from disappointed. The experience includes time spent on the water and breathtaking mountain views. And, the ever-present opportunity to spot wild moose, bears, and other wildlife. You’ll enjoy a slice of the beautiful Alaskan summer and, hopefully, gain a deeper appreciation of our fisheries
The majestic beauty of Alaska, is something I’m so fortunate to enjoy. A place where every moment outdoors is an adventure waiting to unfold.
From the heart-pounding pursuit of King Salmon to the serene early mornings by the vibrant waters, each experience is a treasure. As your guide, I’ll share the wonders of this special ecosystem. And, ensure your time here is filled with awe and appreciation for nature’s grandeur. Join us for an Alaskan summer that promises not just a journey, but a journey of a lifetime.
